What is lip augmentation?

Lip augmentation is a procedure in which the appearance of the lips is improved, making them fuller and plumper. There are a number of types of lip augmentation methods, the most common of which is the administration of injectable hyaluronic acid fillers.

Injectable fillers enhance the shape, structure and volume of the lips, and are a popular choice for patients who would like to improve their appearance by means of a non-surgical treatment.

What does the procedure involve?

Fillers can be injected quickly and easily, with very little recovery time required. Before Dr Pillay administers the injection, he will numb your lips with a local anaesthetic or topical numbing agent. He will then inject your lips with very fine needles.

How long does recovery take?

After your lips have been injected, Dr Pillay may gently apply some ice to the site of treatment to help ease any pain and minimise swelling. You will need to avoid the use of lipstick and lip balm immediately after the procedure. You may experience some swelling and bruising, as well as tenderness and redness. In some cases, you may experience some bleeding at the site of injection. These issues should resolve themselves after a few days.
